Cindy's Breast Augmentation
"I don't think you can have a better doctor do it."
Cindy is a busy single mom in her early 40s. Her breasts had been a size A, borderline B, and she had thought about breast enhancement for a few years. "It seemed like it was always in the back of my mind," she said, "but I convinced myself I really didn't need it."
Cindy describes herself as self-confident and basically content with her body overall. "But as I got older, I began to notice my breasts were getting a little relaxed." With other changes occurring in her life, Cindy made the decision to get serious about breast augmentation surgery. "I decided to give myself a present."
Since Cindy has so much going on in her life, her niece volunteered to do some research. While looking through several websites of Naperville area plastic surgeons, Cindy's niece noticed Dr. Rios' site and said he seemed like a reputable plastic surgeon. Cindy scheduled her first consultation and made the decision to move forward right away.
Dr. Rios and his staff had Cindy feeling good about the procedure from the start. "He wants his patients to feel as comfortable as they can," she noted. "He had me come back for a second consultation even though I was already sure." Dr. Rios' staff even took the time to make sure Cindy was comfortable with the cost of her cosmetic surgery and that her financing was appropriate for her. "The doctor wants to see me from time to time for a year just to check on me," she said, "and all the post-op visits are included in the fee."
When asked about her recovery, Cindy said she was "very sore" the first night, but she still took over-the-counter medication for her discomfort. She rested in bed after surgery and took naps the first few days following her procedure. She used ice packs to minimize swelling and bruising and began the exercises Dr. Rios had given her. "I felt good enough to go back to work in three days," she said, though she acknowledged that some people would probably choose to wait a little longer.
Six months after her surgery, Cindy still can't say enough about Dr. Rios and his staff. "Everyone is so nice, and they make you feel like you're going through a natural process." Cindy characterizes everyone at the practice as very positive. "And they don't put any pressure on you at all," she added. Even the nurses at the local hospital where Cindy had surgery were great. "They treated me like I was special," Cindy said, "and they sent me a card after I got home."
Now that half a year has passed, Cindy says her new breasts definitely feel like a natural part of her body. "For the first two or three weeks I wasn't used to them," Cindy said. And an occasional pain during that post-op period served as a reminder of her procedure. Now, her new breasts feel like she has always had them, "and they look like natural breasts too." Cindy also reports that the scars under her breasts are minimal. "My scars look great, just thin white lines. You can hardly see them."
Cindy advises that women considering breast augmentation - whether to even out different breast sizes, make their breasts look shapely again or simply increase their cup size - should think it through and be sure that's what they want to do. "Know what's going to happen to your body," she said. "It's surgery and you have to look at it in a mature manner."
If she had it all to do over again, Cindy would choose breast enhancement with Dr. Rios without a doubt. She feels she did it for the right reasons and is very happy with the outcome. "I did it for me, not to show my body off to anyone else. It was a very positive experience going to Dr. Rios. He made my breasts look totally perfect in a natural way. I don't think you can have a better doctor do it."
